Aims
This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the operation of the Hong Kong economy, with particular emphasis on the salient factors affecting its performance.

Contents
This course cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to the Hong Kong economy from a historical perspective, which describes the important milestones of Hong Kong's economic development
  • Examination of the major sectors in the economy, including the industrial, financial, real estate, public utilities, and foreign trade sectors
  • Analysis of the issues of the labour market and public finance
  • Discussion of the problems and prospects of the Hong Kong economy

Learning support
There will be 13 two-hour tutorials and two day schools.

Assessment
There will be four assignments and a final examination. Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
