ProQuest - Accounting and Tax Database

 

The new "ProQuest Accounting and Tax" database has been added to our Electronic Library in August 2009.

 

The database is a resource for accounting, taxation and financial management.  It contains information on accounting policies, tax legislation, compensation and pension plans, corporate financial management as well as profiles of accounting firms, CPAs and management consulting firms.

 

Users are able to have centralized access to accounting and tax journals, reference reports, proceedings and dissertations, including 2,300 publications and with hundreds of full-text journal articles.

 

To access Accounting and Tax, go to Electronic Library > E-Journals & Databases > type in “Accounting and Tax”

NetLibrary has enhanced its print function

 

The OCLC NetLibrary eBook printing has been enhanced recently.  Instead of printing page by page, users can now print more than one page at a time with a limit of 10 pages per hour and subject to the copyright law. 

 

Users are reminded to observe the copyright law.  As stated in the NetLibrary website> Help > Viewing Online > Copying (and Printing) Text: “You can copy and paste limited portions of an eBook or other eContent item in the online reader. Copying large portions of content violates copyright laws. If your usage indicates possible excessive copying, the activity is logged and you see a warning message.”

Printing multiple eBook pages from NetLibrary:

1. Click on the upper left hand “Print” button on the eBook page

2. Select " Pages starting with the current page”

3. Enter the no. of pages (e.g. 5) and then click “OK”

To access NetLibrary e-book collection, go to Electronic Library >       E-Books > Browse > Collections > By Providers > NetLibrary.

In pursuit of Ideals and Social Achievements: the Inspiring Stories of OU People

 

Venue : Level 2 Stanley Ho Library (near the New Book Display)

Period : 7 September 2009 – 9 November 2009

 

The Stanley Ho Library presents a book display of “Inspiring Stories of OU People” from 7 September 2009 to 9 November 2009.

 

Visitors will be able to read the stories of OUHK Chancellor, Council Members, President, Graduates, Staff, Honorary Graduates and University Fellows who have set goals in life, explored the unknown, fulfilled their dreams amidst the difficulties and limitations during the journey in pursuit of their ideals and social achievements.

On display are books and materials held in the Stanley Ho Library, print copies of online articles subscribed by the Library or in the internet.  Through these biographies, feature articles or interviews about these OUHK mentors or through their creative works, readers will be able to learn how one can cope with challenges, enrich his life and contribute to the society.

Influenza

 

New cases of Influenza A/H1N1 have been reported in the news everyday for the past few months.  According to the press release produced by Surveillance and Epidemiology Branch of the Centre for Health Protection, the cumulative number of patients tested positive for H1N1 is 26,548 as at 27 September 2009.  To prevent influenza, we should maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, take adequate rest and avoid overstressed and smoking.  Remember to wear a mask when symptoms of influenza develop and seek medical advice promptly.

Looking for course related materials?

 

The Library has a Reserve Collection located behind the Circulation Counter for a short-term loan in the Library.  The Reserve Collection includes course materials, past exam papers, reference materials and set textbooks.  Some of the materials also have electronic versions and readers can read these materials online instantly via E-reserve.

 

To search our Reserve Collection, please go to Electronic Library > Library Catalogues > OUHK Library Catalogue > Select “Course Codes”.
