When you are outside the OUHK Campus and access the "OUHK user only" Electronic Resources and the E-Text Center, check whether you have properly installed and launched the remote access software before clicking to access the materials.  The User Access Support Section in the Electronic Library (E-Lib) Home Page tells you more about connection methods and software download.

netLibrary Account Re-activation 

For user re-authentication, users who have created an account before 01 Oct 2002 need to re-activate their accounts.  Just follow these steps or click the guide to know more.

  • Install and launch properly the remote access connection to the Electronic Library.  Or, simply log in to an Internet workstation in Library or PC Lab to access the E-Lib. 

  • Go to the netLibrary Home Page as you usually do.  Login with your existing netLibrary username and password in the "Current Members" box.

OU Viewer Version 0.3.0

The OU Viewer has been upgraded to version 0.3.0 in September. All users must download the latest version to read the OUHK eBook Collection in the E-Text Centre through one of following ways.  

IE 6.0 or above must be required.

Arrivals of Set Books & Exam Papers

Set textbooks for the October semester are already available in the Library! Some of them can be read in the E-Lib.  Go to E-Lib Home Page at http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk, and select E-text Centre>Browse>Collections>By Formats>Set Textbooks.

 
The Library has received some Aug 2002 exam papers. To see if and what past exam papers online for your courses, go to E-Lib Home Page at http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk and select Reserve Collection. Log in with your E-Lib ID and password, then key in your course code to check.

 

Table of Contents available in the Library Catalogue! *

Table of contents (TOC) help you to know about the a book before you decide to check it out or read it.  From early December on, over 10,000 recent English book records will be enriched with the TOC for you to read and search.   Watch out for our News & Announcement in the E-Lib.   


Remark: If you are not using Campus PC, you must have the proper remote access connection to the E-Lib set up before accessing the electronic resources below. For details, see the User Access Support section on the E-Lib Home Page. 

 

Resource Update

New Database: Factiva.com *

Factiva.com replaces the Reuters Business Briefing (RBB) but, in fact, you gain access to the combined content sets of Dow Jones Interactive, RBB and much more --- global news and business information from about 8,000 sources. To access the database, go to E-Lib Home Page > Electronic Resources > Keyword Search and type in "Factiva." Click the search guide to know more. 

Database News: Dialog@CARL to be discontinued

The database provider stops the Dialog@CARL service on 30 November 2002.  Many of the titles are available in other databases in the E-Lib.  Just contact our library staff if you have questions.


New eBooks: Engineering and Environmental Handbooks Online *

Some 230 new reference books on engineering and environmental sciences have newly added in our E-text Centre. These e-books are continually updated so you can access the latest content.   To browse the titles, go to E-Lib Home Page at http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk and select E-text Centre>Browse>Collections>By Providers>CRC.  CRC publishes these titles, and it is a leading publisher in the fields.
