Aims and Objectives

 

The Master of Arts in Creative Writing  (MACW) programme aims at strengthening students' knowledge and skills in cultural and creative industries and providing students the opportunity to develop professional writing skills in different genres and media forms for careers in the creative industries, including film, advertisement, visual art and digital media.

 
(a)      demonstrate an understanding of the features and the principles of creative writing through the study of literary works of different genres and other media forms including film, advertisement, visual art and digital media;
(b)appreciate the diversity and possibilities of theoretical approaches to writing;
(c)develop their personal style and aesthetical pursuits in art through the exploration of the potential for creative writing;
(d)produce professional critiques on creative writings of different genres; and
(e)apply the basic skills and concepts of creative and professional writing for engaging in the world of cultural and creative industries.

Admission Requirements

 

Students admitted to the programme should have:

  • A recognized Bachelor's degree;
  • Any other equivalent qualifications and relevant professional experience will be considered;
  • A portfolio of art, design, media or written work should be submitted;and
  • Proficiency in Chinese.

Applicants are required to attend an admission interview and/or written test.
