and<\/li><li><em>Carry out<\/em> independent research which will represent a significant and original contribution to academic and\/or professional knowledge in education.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-6472\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Entrance requirements<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-6472\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-6472\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p>To enter the <strong>Doctor of Education <\/strong>programme, a student should:<\/p><ul><li>Hold a recognized Master's degree (by research or coursework) in education or a related area; and<\/li><li>Satisfy the University English language proficiency requirements.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-6473\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Programme requirement<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-6473\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-6473\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p>The EdD programme includes two stages, moving from a broad-based understanding of educational issues in the coursework component to independent investigation of a specific issue of professional concern in the <em>Thesis.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><p><em><strong>Stage 1: Coursework component<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Students admitted to the full programme are required complete at least 24 credit units as follows:<\/p><ol><li>9 credit-units of core courses from Table 1; Normally, they will be required to submit this revised proposal within about four to six months. The proposal should demonstrate:<\/p><ul><li>A clear formulation of the research question(s) or hypothesis(es);<\/li><li>Understanding of the theoretical frameworks involved;<\/li><li>An initial literature review;<\/li><li>Knowledge of research in related areas; and<\/li><li>A viable plan for the collection and analysis of data.<\/li><\/ul><p>Satisfactory development of the detailed research proposal is necessary for further progress in Stage 2. For full-time students, the minimum time for the Thesis is one year and the maximum is two years. For part-time students, the minimum time for the <em>Thesis<\/em> is two years and the maximum is five years.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-6474\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Application procedure and selection criteria<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-6474\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-6474\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p>The application procedure involves the following stages:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol><li>Prior making a formal application, applicants should identify a potential supervisor at the School and initiate a discussion about their proposed field of study.
