This kind of phishing email is sent to you\u00a0pretending to be from a staff of the HKMU<\/strong>\u00a0(usually a senior staff or your supervisor). If there is a response, the sender will follow shot and see if there is a chance for cheating. Should you have any doubt, please\u00a0check if the sender's email address is correct<\/strong>\u00a0(staff phone directory and\/or confirm with the sender\u00a0by other means<\/strong>\u00a0like by phone or in person.<\/div>

IT Security Reminder<\/p>

1.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Fake Email attack for phishing personal information<\/p>

Please be reminded NOT to reply to any suspicious emails that ask you to fill in a web form with username and password for any reason.<\/p>

Most of the phishing emails have the following similarities:
a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Sender is similar to our official IT Helpdesk account (such as IT support)
b.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ask users to access an unknown web link outside our official web services
c.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ask users to access an attachment (e.g. a document in PDF file)
d.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ask users to provide personal information (e.g., username and password)
e.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The internet address of the web form is not secure (i.e., http:\\\\ instead of https :\\\\)<\/p>

Please be reminded that HKMU will\u00a0NEVER\u00a0<\/strong><\/u>collect your username, password and\/or any \u201cCONFIDENTIAL\u201d personal information via email. You are encouraged to report suspicious email to our IT Helpdesk (Ext. 6523).<\/p>

2.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Security Tips<\/p>

We would also like to share some security tips with you:
a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Do not disclose your own password to anybody
b.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Change your password regularly
c.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Report any fake or fraudulent email or activities
d.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Keep your USB storage device with you
e.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use encrypted USB storage device to prevent any loss of information.
f.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use secure email option (by selecting \u201cConfidential\u201d under the sensitivity options in Microsoft Outlook) for any out-going email which contains personal confidential information
g.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use the encryption tools provided by the University to encrypt your data
h.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use the SharePoint Services to store your data<\/p>
