Library Guides

To facilitate you in locating relevant library resources and services more effectively, various Library Guides have been strategically designed for you at your point of need. We have:

i)		Subject Guides – giving you hints for finding subject-related books, journals, articles, databases, etc.; and
ii)		General Purpose Guides – providing you tips for using online library services and introducing you topical resources and information that may be useful for your study.

An “English Language Learning” guide has been released recently. It serves as a one-stop guide showcasing various English learning resources available in the Library as well as on the Internet.

Need some help when trying to find resources for your assignments? We are delighted to serve you in what you need! Our Information Desk at the Stanley Ho Library and virtual reference service “Ask a Librarian” at the Ho Sik Yee Library are open at the following hours:

Electronic resources – Library anytime, anywhere!

Do you know many of the most recent Library resources are actually not on the bookshelves? Yes, we have 42% of our books and 98% of our journals in electronic format, covering all subject areas. In the last few months, Library has striven to enrich the collection with a top-up of around 50,000 quality e-books. Be the first to discover the electronic resources added daily to the E-Library and enjoy your reading, studying, researching, assignment preparation……anytime and anywhere. Let’s go beyond the walls and explore more on our E-Library!

CA x Library Ink-wash Animation Exhibition

Jointly presented by the Creative Arts Department of the School of Arts & Social Sciences and the Library, the “CA x Library Ink-wash Animation Exhibition” will be held from 21 January to 22 March 2019 showcasing the animations of 8 ink paintings of the world’s ink art masters. The animations are produced by our Creative Arts students. Demonstrating elegant fusion of traditional arts and technology, the animations bring forth a new perspective of appreciating Chinese ink painting. Please come to the Stanley Ho Library (MC) and Ho Sik Yee Library (JCC) and enjoy this brand new experience!

Focus group meeting on the Library learning space enhancement project

The Library will undergo a learning space enhancement project in 2019. With the support of the University, a new Learning Commons will be established in the Ho Sik Yee Library on the Jockey Club Campus. Learning spaces in the Stanley Ho Library on the Main Campus will also be refurbished.

In order to better understand our users’ needs, a focus group meeting was organized and held on 30 November 2018. Participants included student representatives from the Schools, the Acting President of OUHKSU, Vice President (Administration and Development), and library staff representatives. During the meeting, the student representatives actively shared their views and suggestions on the design and use of library spaces. These comments have been very useful in our planning for library spaces that best meet users’ different needs.
