Integrated Service Counter

To enhance our enquiry service, the Information Desk and Circulation Counter will be integrated to provide a one-stop service point for our library users. This initiative enables us to extend our enquiry service hours significantly and users will be able to receive instant assistance from our staff at the integrated Service Counter any time during the library opening hours.

Research Consultation Service

A new Research Consultation Service has been launched with the aim of supporting the research needs of our faulty members, postgraduate students and undergraduate students. Here are some examples of the topics that could be covered in a consultation session:

Recommendation of databases and other resources most relevant to your research or assignment topic
Developing a search strategy
Beginning a literature review
Searching library databases effectively and obtaining the full text of journal articles
Identifying high-impact or top journals in your research area
Using citation databases to find the most cited references which are relevant to your research topic
Managing references and citations

To make a one-on-one or small group appointment with our reference librarian face-to-face or via Zoom, please send an email to libwww@ouhk.edu.hk. Our staff will contact you to confirm the arrangement once the request is received.

Extra Support to YOU during the Online Study Period

We understand that your study habits might have been adjusted during the online study period. To support your study anytime and anywhere, the Library has prepared various topical user guides and online tutorials to help you find relevant resources and use our services.

Recently, we have added a new “Information Resources Portal on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)” in response to users' interest in learning more about the 2019 Novel Coronavirus outbreak. On this new Portal, users will find information about the disease from different sources, the latest infection figures in Hong Kong and around the world, as well as relevant news and research articles for further research on the topic.

Three new guides on specific topics, entitled “How to find Dissertations and Theses”, “How to find Statistics” and “How to find News Articles”, are also added providing tips on how to search for different kinds of resources for your papers and assignments. Remember to bookmark our Library Guides pages for easy access in the future!

Are you struggling to cite information sources and include a reference list in your assignment? Don't panic! You can learn more about what a citation is, how to cite a source and how to avoid plagiarism from our new online tutorial series “Citing Sources of Information and Avoiding Plagiarism”. For more details, you can also refer to our guide on citing sources of information.

“As I am now studying from home, how can I search for e-resources in the E-Library for doing my assignments? How can I renew my loaned items online?” These may be common questions that bother you recently. We have prepared an online tutorial “Support from Library during online learning” to show you how to search for e-resources, exam papers and renew book loans online.

New Resources Highlights

Library staff are working diligently throughout the year to source diverse materials with one major purpose to facilitate your study and meet your research interest. Following are some of our notable additions we proudly bring to your attention.

**Database: Visible Body – journey through the human body**

Visible Body is a visual anatomy database with 7 modules covering breadth and depth of contents that help you to get a more complete understanding of the human body. Just at your fingertips, you can anatomize the structures of human bodies to the very details of every muscle, vein and cell aided by the database's intricately designed 3D models and animation technology. It's stunning, it's detailed, and it's very informative. To have a more “wow” experience, the mobile apps version could be a good choice for browsing.

One of the must-tries is the Augmented Reality (AR) mode from Human Anatomy Atlas module providing users an interactive experience of plotting the human models in a real-world environment. You can zoom the body structure, dissect it, rotate it, or even put it on your table for detailed study! The following video clip shows you more on how it works.
