\nPreamble<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

    \n \t
  1. LiPACE recognizes prior learning achievements\nof its students at an appropriate level by the award of advanced\nstanding credits. With reference to the document \u201cPolicy,\nPrinciples and Operational Guidelines for Credit Accumulation\nand Transfer under the Qualifications Framework\u201d published by\nthe Education Bureau in March 2016, LiPACE established a system\nand refined its policies for recognition and transfer of credits\nto recognize students' prior educational attainment through\nexempting students from the requirement of completing comparable\ncourse(s) in its programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \nTypes of Credit Exemption and Transfer<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

      \n \t
    1. There are two types of credit exemption and\ntransfer:<\/span>\n
        \n \t
      1. Specific Credit Exemption<\/span><\/b>:\nApplication and approval for specific credit\nexemption are made on a course-by-course basis.\nAssessment of credit exemption application is\nmade by comparing the relevancy and similarity\nof the academic standard\/level, content and\nlearning outcomes of the course that a student\nhas completed in his\/her previous study with the\ncourse that the student nominates for credit\nexemption. Specifically, the prior\nqualification\/study must be at the same or\nhigher QF level and with at least 80% of\ncomparable contents with the course(s) to be\nconsidered for exemption.<\/span><\/li>\n \t
      2. Block Credit Exemption:<\/span><\/b> Block\ncredit exemption is granted based on\nconsideration of the student's general learning\nexperience. It will be granted to students who\nhave completed a recognized qualification at the\nsame or higher level in respect of a LiPACE\nprogramme of study. Sub-degree students may\napply for block credit exemption for the\nlanguage courses and IT course in their study\nprogramme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \nGeneral Principles<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

          \n \t
        1. To be considered for course exemption, a\nstudent's prior qualifications must be:<\/span>\n
            \n \t
          1. awarded by a recognized academic institution\nthrough a study with assessment; or<\/span><\/li>\n \t
          2. awarded by a recognized\nprofessional\/examination body through\nexaminations; or<\/span><\/li>\n \t
          3. awarded by a registered private institution\nfor a programme recognized under the Hong Kong\nQualifications Framework (QF) or accredited by\nan equivalent overseas accreditation body; or<\/span><\/li>\n \t
          4. obtained via assessment under the Recognition\nof Prior Learning (RPL) scheme of the QF; or<\/span><\/li>\n \t
          5. selected in-house training courses of\ncompanies\/corporates whose learning outcomes and\ncompetencies developed in employees are\nrecognised for credit exemption in bespoke\ncertificate\/diploma developed by LiPACE for\nstaff of the particular companies\/corporates.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n \t
            1. A student can apply for both block credit\nexemption <\/i>as well as specific credit exemption <\/i>for\nthe courses required for graduation in their respective study\nprogramme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                \n \t
              1. In any case, the maximum number of credits\nexempted\/transferred should not exceed 50% of the total credit\nrequirement for the academic award of the programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n \t
                1. The minimum unit of exemption is one course. No\nexemption of partial course will be allowed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                    \n \t
                  1. To maintain students' exit standard, NO\nexemption should be allowed for capstone courses in a programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n \t
                    1. Prior qualifications that only meet the\nadmission requirement are not entitled to exemption.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                        \n \t
                      1. Exemption granted in prior study is not\nentitled to exemption in the current study.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                          \n \t
                        1. Where necessary, applicants may be required to\ntake an oral, written or practical assessment in order to prove\nthat they have achieved the required course standard before\napproval of their applications.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          \nOutcomes<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

                            \n \t
                          1. For each course exemption granted, the\nstudent's course grade will be marked as \u201cExempted\u201d on the\ntranscript. Students are not required to take another course(s)\nto make up the total number of credits required for graduation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                              \n \t
                            1. An exempted course will be excluded from the\ncalculation of the Grade Point Average (GPA) for full-time\nprogrammes or the Weighted Average Marks (WAM) for part-time\nprogrammes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                                \n \t
                              1. For full-time programmes and their mirror\npart-time programmes, no refund will be made for the exempted\ncourses. For some of the part-time programmes, refund of\nrelevant tuition fees paid may be made if course exemptions are\ngranted.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                                  \n \t
                                1. LiPACE reserves the right not to grant credit\nexemption for courses which are not deemed as equivalent to the\nLiPACE courses applied to be exempted, and for courses which\nstudents previously completed with a low grade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \n\n \n\n<\/div><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
