Two and a half years into its establishment, the Public and Social Policy Research Centre under the School of Arts and Social Sciences organized its first large-scale international event, the International Conference on Housing and Ageing Policies: Global and China Perspectives, in hybrid mode on 23–24 June.

To bring global perspectives into issues pertaining housing and ageing policies, the organizer invited a host of researchers, experts and practitioners from all over the world to share their findings and views. In addition to the three keynote speakers — Prof. Bingqin Li, Director of the Chinese Social Policy Stream at the University of New South Wales, Prof. Richard Ronald, Professor of Housing, Society and Space at the University of Amsterdam, and Prof. Alan Walker, Professor of Social Policy and Social Gerontology at the University of Sheffield — eight academics from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore were invited to be guest speakers. The conference was also enriched by views of the social welfare sector, presented by the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and was graced with the presence of honourable guest Dr Raymond So Wai-man, Under Secretary for Transport and Housing.
