With the aim of promoting interest and interaction among academics in relevant disciplines in Chinese science fiction, digital culture, and humanities, the Research Institute for Digital Culture and Humanities kicked off a new series "Chinese Science Fiction in the Digital Age" and held an inaugural seminar entitled "從梁啓超《新中國未來記》到劉慈欣《三體》: 二十世紀中國小説的發展" on 9 November 2021, with Prof. Xu Zidong as the guest speaker. Prof. Xu, Honorary Professor of School of Chinese at University of Hong Kong and Zijiang Chair Professor of the East China Normal University, shared his view on the development of Chinese novels in the twentieth century through discussing the literary works from Liang Qichao's The Future Record of New China to Liu Cixin's The Three-Body Problem. The seminar had over 170 participants from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University community and public.
