President Prof. Paul Lam held an online Town Hall Meeting on 1 April, his first anniversary in office, engaging in dialogue with some 300 staff members. Discussing the University's future directions, he highlighted the Global Faculty Recruitment Campaign and Central Faculty Fund set up to recruit world-class scholars, and the Faculty Advancement Fund to support faculty members to undertake scholarly activities for a period of up to 12 months in or outside of Hong Kong. Prof. Lam also introduced the University's strategic research areas, namely digital humanities and literature, public and social policy, international business, responsible business, bilingual teaching and learning, gerontechnology, environmental science, smart city, and open and innovative education. To free up campus space for teaching and research, the University has rented additional spaces for administrative and supportive departments in NEO Tower, Kwun Tong. HKMU staff were enthusiastic in asking questions and expressing views.
