The third seminar for the series "Chinese Science Fiction in the Digital Age" concludes with success

The Research Institute for Digital Culture and Humanities of the School of Arts and Social Sciences held the third seminar for the series "Chinese Science Fiction in the Digital Age" on 30 May 2022. Mr Stanley Chen Qiufan, a renowned science fiction writer, and Dr Sun Haochen, Associate Professor of Law at The University of Hong Kong, were invited to a dialogue on how AI would change the future of mankind.

The seminar entitled "AI 2041: How We Design the Future with Science Fiction" had attracted over 70 participants from the University community and the public to attend. It started with Mr Stanley Chen's sharing on his latest publication "AI 2041: Ten Visions of Our Future", which is co-authored with Dr Lee Kai-Fu. He hoped to raise the awareness of the role of AI in the future of mankind by suggesting co-living with AI. Next, Dr Sun discussed the current legal issues related to AI intellectual property. The two speakers also exchanged ideas on breaking the binary oppositions of humans versus AI through the sense of science fiction creation and the legal perspective.
