The first HKMU Festival, organised by the School of Arts and Social Sciences, was recently held on 22 March at the Jockey Club Campus. The event was meant to echo Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU)'s commitment to providing students with a diverse learning experience through a wide range of campus activities that allow them to express their creativity and talent, creating joyful and cherished memories of their university life. The festival received an enthusiastic response from numerous students and staff members.

Under the supervision of Prof. Octavian Saiu of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, students from different Schools joined forces to conceive and organise a series of exciting arts and cultural programmes, including dance flash mobs, busking, cultural booths, handmade soap and mental wellbeing workshops, Toastmasters Club's debates, mask drawing booths, open dialogues, video games and an evening Talent Show with a theatrical scene, dance battle and singing competition.

The organising committee consisted of 23 students, who showed genuine enthusiasm and creativity in sharing ideas, planning each activity, preparing the logistics, and promoting the event through social media platforms and promotional booths. The event started with a flash mob and a busking performance at noon and ended with a masquerade party after the Talent Show. Some participating students and staff received souvenirs especially for HKMU Festival designed by members of the organising committee. All students involved gained a lot of valuable experience in event planning and organisation, providing a joyful and glamorous festival for the entire HKMU community.
