recently, Student Affairs Office (SAO) decides to launch the Global Internship Scheme (GIS) in 2023 to provide subsidy supports to students who have successfully completed the SAO recognized global internship programmes. Please note that the subsidy will be given to eligible students as part of financial support and it does not intend to cover all student internship costs. The Scheme authority, i.e. SAO, has full discretions in determining the subsidy level of each application and rejecting the application.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1523\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1523\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" href=\"\">Eligibility<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1523\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1523\"><ul><li><p>Be a full-time undergraduate student of the University;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Land a global internship which is offered\/ recognized by SAO in 2023 summer (please refer to the following \u201cSAO Recognized Global Internship Programme List\u201d);<\/p><\/li><li><p>Obtain an average GPA not lower than 2.0;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Not be suspended, on disciplinary hearing, or on academic probation; and<\/p><\/li><li><p>Priority will be given to students who did not awarded the subsidy before.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1524\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1524\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" href=\"\">Obligation of the Awardees<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1524\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1524\"><ul><li>Each awardee must complete the internship with satisfactory performance and provide a proof of completion of the internship (e.g. job reference letter or programme certificate from employer\/ host organization with company letter head);<\/li><li>Each awardee is required to provide the contact information of your employer\/ host organization and he\/she will be invited to complete a post-internship evaluation;<\/li><li>Each awardee must also submit the following documents to SAO\u00a0<strong>by\u00a030 Sep 2023<\/strong>:<ul><li>a reflective journal (no less than 500 words in English) to highlight your learning experience;<\/li><li>at least 5 high resolution photos (no less than 500KB file size each) relevant to your internship experience and your portrait should be seen in the photos; and<\/li><li>complete the student post-internship evaluation (normally sent by University email in early-Sep 2023).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If you have completed the above tasks and the documents have been verified by SAO, the subsidy will normally be given to you by end-Dec 2023. Please note that you will be invited to join an award presentation ceremony scheduled in 2023 Autumn Term, and your internship stories and submitted documents may be published electronically or otherwise.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1525\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1525\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" href=\"\">Important Note<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1525\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1525\"><ul><li><p>Students can only be awarded the GIS once throughout their studies at the University;<\/p><\/li><li><p>The duration of physical global internship should not be less than 4 weeks normally;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Applicants should note the application period and be responsible for applying for the recognized programme by themselves. Before applying, applicants should also check whether they meet the programme requirements and visa application eligibility specified by the programme hosts and countries\/regions.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Priority will be given to students who have placed in the work opportunities relevant to their study programmes and\/or career goals;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Priority will be given to Student Ambassadors under the SAO Career Accelerator Programme who have completed a series career development training sessions;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Awardees are required to attend the required pre-internship training and briefing sessions to enhance their career readiness and understand more the latest traveling arrangements;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Self-solicited work opportunities outside the above \u201c SAO Recognized Global Internship Programme List\u201d will not be accepted in general;<\/p><\/li><li><p>The internships should not be stipulated by study programme requirement (e.g. credit-bearing\/ curriculum-based internship, practicum, study placement);<\/p><\/li><li><p>Once the application has been approved by the Scheme authority, no change of internship programme will be allowed unless special approval has been sought;<\/p><\/li><li><p>Awardees of this Scheme may also apply for other subsidies from funding sources outside the University in the same year, e.g. Reaching Out Award offered by Hong Kong Government [<a href=\"https:\/\/www-uat.hkmu.edu.hk\/sao\/sch\/ft-spss\/\">LINK<\/a>];<\/p><\/li><li><p>The Scheme authority has full discretion in determining the subsidy level of each application and rejecting applications. Students should not presume that your application must be successful before receiving the official approval from the Scheme authority; and<\/p><\/li><li><p>Outstanding applicants will be considered by the <strong>David Chan Outbound Internship Award<\/strong> which offers two quotas in 2023 summer. The award amount is set at ceiling of HK$25,000 each on a reimbursement basis. Similar to GIS, awardees will be required to submit the same set of documents with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all expense receipts<\/span> to SAO by 30 September 2023. Expenses will be reimbursed after received and verified the required documents from the awardees. The reimbursable expenses include air tickets, local transportation, accommodation and other living expenses incurred during the internship. However, please note that the selected applicant will be awarded either the David Chan Outbound Internship Award OR the GIS in the same year.
