Programme Introduction

The BSSc(Hons)Psychology is a 4-year full-time programme aiming to equip students with in-depth knowledge in a wide range of areas in psychology of different domains as well as the thinking skills of analysing, evaluating, and synthesizing psychological concepts and theories. It broadens the specific knowledge in mental health, psychopathology, and counselling. The programme also develops students' scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills. In a practice perspective, it facilitates the selection of optimal treatment strategies in dealing with various psychopathologies and customized counselling techniques. Graduates can pursue careers in private and public sectors, non-government organisations, and pursue postgraduate studies in different psychology specialties.
 
The BSSc(Hons)Psychology currently offers two streams:
– Stream I: Psychology
– Stream II: Counselling Psychology
 
Applicants (Year 1 Entry) will be considered for admission to first-year studies at Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Psychology. Students will enter a stream after Year 1 study and follow the respective programme curriculum in Years 2 – 4.
 

Programme Structure 

During the four years of study, students will need to complete 120 credits of courses, comprising course credits of core courses, major elective courses, elective courses, General Education, English, and University Core courses.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this programme, students shall have to satisfy the General Admission Requirements (JUPAS Applicants / Non-JUPAS Local Applicants / Mainland Applicants / Overseas Applicants).
There are no specific subject requirements for this programme.
Interview requirement:    No

Professional Recognition

Career Prospects

Graduates can pursue a career in the private and public sectors, as well as the non-government organisations in psychology-related positions, such as consultants, educators (esp. SEN teachers), project officers, etc.

Further Studies

Graduates can also pursue postgraduate studies in different specialties of Psychology.
