The programme provides professional training specializing in the field of statistical decision analysis and quantitative skills, and equips graduates to work as statistical analysts in marketing research, financial analysis, industrial sectors and government agencies. Students will be eligible for exemption from the Ordinary Certificate and Higher Certificate Examination offered by the Hong Kong Statistical Society (HKSS) if students have passed at grade 3 or above in the courses: MATH S242, MATH S280, MATH S350 and MATH S346.

| Note: Credits gained in this Diploma can count towards the requirements for the BSc/BSc(Hons) in Statistics and Decision Science, or BSc/BSc(Hons) in Mathematical Studies through articulation of qualifications. Credits from STAT S242 can only be counted as free choice credits for BSc/BSc(Hons) in Mathematical Studies. |

Choosing the first courses to get started
Students taking the Diploma in Applied Statistics programme are advised to start with MATH S242 Statistics in Society, which introduces the fundamental concepts in statistics. Alternatively, students can take the following as the first courses:
Master of Science in Quantitative Analysis and Computational Mathematics (60 credits)
Master of Science in Quantitative Analysis and Computational Mathematics (through Pathway 1) (40 credits)
Postgraduate Diploma in Quantitative Analysis and Computational Mathematics (40 credits)
Postgraduate Certificate in Quantitative Analysis (20 credits)
Postgraduate Certificate in Computational Mathematics (20 credits)
Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Studies (120 credits)
Bachelor of Science with Honours in Mathematical Studies (160 credits)
Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Decision Science (120 credits)
Bachelor of Science with Honours in Statistics and Decision Science (160 credits)
