Youth Literary Awards is a well-known annual literary competition in Hong Kong which attracts over a thousand of local and overseas young writers to participate. Wong Kwo, a graduate of Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Chinese programme of Hong Kong Metropolitan University had won two awards in this competition three years ago. This year, he has further took the Championship in the Fiction (Senior) Category with his work “冥河盃文學徵文比賽”.
Wong's winning piece is a humorous account of a frustrated writer who wins a literary competition for the first time but unfortunately it is organized by the nether world. Wong has provoked a reflection on the contemporary situation through the protagonist's self-deprecation in the story. With the unique storytelling and the outstanding writing skill, his work was appreciated by the panel of judges and stood out from others.
