Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) achieved pleasing results in the latest round of the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector of the Research Grants Council (RGC).

This year, HKMU has been granted research funding of over HK$13 million for projects under the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS). The total amount granted for the FDS projects is the highest among all self-financing institutions. Seven FDS projects of HKMU have been granted over HK$1 million — also the best among self-financing institutions — making it the third consecutive year for HKMU to achieve this outstanding result. One FDS project related to environmental issues has been granted about HK$1.72 million, which is the largest funding among all the FDS projects.

HKMU Provost Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping said, “The RGC funding results affirm the efforts of HKMU in promoting and developing research. The University will invest more resources to enhance its research facilities and to develop more innovative research projects for the benefit of Hong Kong.”
