A total of 1,102 HKMU full-time students were honoured in the HKSAR Government's Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) this academic year, receiving a record-breaking total of HK$18.49 million. They were recognised in five award categories under the Scheme, with 244 receiving the Outstanding Performance Scholarship, 575 the Reaching Out Award, 163 the Talent Development Scholarship, 54 the Endeavour Scholarship, and 66 the Best Progress Award. Among them, five representatives attended the award presentation ceremony on 25 April.

To promote the quality and sustainable development of the self-financing post-secondary sector, the Government established the SPSS in 2011 to offer scholarships and awards to students pursuing full-time locally accredited self-financing sub-degree or undergraduate programmes. This year, a total of 4,122 outstanding students, including 1,798 studying sub-degree programmes and 2,324 undergraduate programmes from 26 participating institutions, received about HK$77 million in scholarships and awards.
