Creative arts student wins Gold at the International Taiwan Postar Award

Icarus Wang Peng, from the Creative Advertising and Media Design programme, took his creative artworks to the International Taiwan Postar Award 2024. Under the competition theme “Embracing Differences”, one of his artworks, “Music Unites Us”, won the Gold Award and a cash prize of NT$30,000. He also received the Judges' Special Award for his artwork “Capture”, and Merit Awards for “Voice of Peace” and “Together”.
In his winning artwork, “Music Unites Us”, Icarus used piano keys to form figures of different skin colours, which appear to lean on each other to symbolise how music can be used to overcome racial discrimination and foster unity.
The International Taiwan Postar Award 2024, organised by the Taiwan Poster Design Association, aims to cultivate students' poster-design skills, while broadening their design vision and perspectives on a global platform. The award-winning works will be included in the 2024 Taiwan International Poster New Star Award annual exhibition catalogue. They will also be featured in promotional materials by the Taiwan Poster Design Association and displayed in exhibitions planned by the association.
