Details:
Over 40 HKMU students and teaching staff formed a number of teams to participate in the student group and open group of Hong Kong Techathon+ 2025, an annual large-scale innovation and technology event co-organised by Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and 13 local universities and institutions. Among them, the team “Lucida”, formed by three students from the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science programme and two students from other local universities, received a Merit Award in the Local Student Group in the Smart Cities category.

The team came up with an innovative solution that makes use of a smartphone and a simple wearable device to help blind people navigate. They submitted their proposal and made it to the final, where they received a Merit Award for their outstanding performance in the final pitching session.

Hong Kong Techathon+ is an exciting challenge, where participants can work together as teams to create innovative and executable tech solutions. This year, more than 1,800 local and international participants formed over 380 teams to propose tech solutions in four technology areas — “Trusted AI & Data Science”, “Sustainability & ESG”, “Digital Economy” and “Smart Cities” — competing for cash prizes and incubation and funding support offered by HKSTP, HKMU and other partnering universities.
