A record 1,118 HKMU students were honoured in the HKSAR Government's Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) this academic year, receiving a total of HK$19.1 million in scholarships. They were recognised across five award categories: 253 received the Outstanding Performance Scholarship, 585 the Reaching Out Award, 158 the Talent Development Scholarship, 52 the Endeavour Scholarship, and 70 the Best Progress Award. Five student representatives attended the award-presentation ceremony on 24 April to celebrate their achievements.
To promote the quality and sustainable development of the self-financing post-secondary sector, the Government established the SPSS in 2011, offering scholarships and awards to students pursuing full-time, locally accredited self-financing sub-degree or undergraduate programmes. This year, a total of 4,399 outstanding students, including 2,009 sub-degree students and 2,390 undergraduate students from 26 participating institutions, received over HK$80 million in scholarships and awards.
