The Office for Advancement of Learning and Teaching (ALTO) is devoted to building up TPACK (technological, pedagogical and content knowledge) for the professional development of academic staff; and promoting SoTL (scholarship of teaching and learning) for the enhancement of teaching quality for students. These service areas build upon each other to enhance the quality of teaching and learning at HKMU, optimize both online and classroom learning experience, and contribute to innovative education for all in the community. Based on sound pedagogical principles, ALTO develops educational technologies such as mobile apps and interactive online components which enrich the learning experience. Through professional development seminars and workshops, we support academic staff in making the most of the educational technologies and pedagogies available to them. They can then integrate their subject-specific knowledge with pedagogical and technological expertise to create the optimal learning environment for their students.
